Maternal Mental health workshop

Join Jamaa Birth Village for a Maternal Mental Health Workshop on Saturday, March 1st, 2025, from 10 AM to 4 PM.

This empowering virtual session will create a communal space for learning, exploring and understanding what is maternal mental health and how it impacts us all. This workshop will allow community doulas, pregnant women, and their partners to experience a holistic and comprehensive overview of maternal mental health and their role in it.

This workshop is co-sponsored by the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services and provides comprehensive education on the signs and symptoms of perinatal anxiety and mood disorders by an award-winning doula, doula trainer, Traditional Midwife, and pioneer for Black Maternal Health-Jamaa's Founder-Okunsola M. Amadou.

Topics to be covered are:

• Understanding Maternal Mental Health: From the Normative to the Clinical Concern

• Holistic Prevention, Diagnosis, and Treatment of PMADs

• Assessing, Screening, and Treating Mother's Mental Health Conditions

• Nature and holistic interventions: herbal remedies, essential oils, nutrition, exercise, doula care, community support
